App: RCCG Hymn and solfa - (offline) — Developer: Solomon Obafemi

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing RCCG Hymn and Solfa. This policy explains, in plain and respectful language, how we handle data when you use our mobile application. We built this app to encourage worship, preserve hymn traditions, and make solfa notation easily available — not to collect personal details. We care about your privacy and have minimized data collection wherever possible.

2. Information We Collect

We categorize the information we use below — and why we use it.

A. Information stored only on your device

  • Local app settings: theme preference, font size, favorites, and other UI choices. These are stored on your device (AsyncStorage / local SQLite) so the app works offline and respects your preferences.
  • Local SQLite database: the hymn text, verses, and local solfa notations (bundled with the app or saved to the app's document directory). This file lives on the device unless you choose to update it from the cloud.

B. Information exchanged with our services (only when you are online)

  • Hymn audio files and database updates: when you are online we may download audio files or an updated hymn database from our hosting (Firebase Hosting). This is to keep your offline experience fresh and accurate.
  • Solfa submissions: if you submit a solfa notation via the in-app form, we store that submission in our Firebase Firestore for review. Submissions include the hymn identifier, the solfa text, and an optional display name you enter. We do not require signup — anonymous authentication is used to prevent spam.
  • Crash & anonymous analytics (optional): we may use tools like Firebase Crashlytics or lightweight analytics to improve stability. These collect technical, non-personal data such as app version, device model, and stack traces only when enabled.

3. What We Never Collect

Respectfully and explicitly: we do not collect or store your contacts, photos, messages, precise location, biometric data, or financial data. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

4. How We Use Submissions

Community-submitted solfa notations are reviewed by the developer. If approved, they may be merged into the official hymn database and published in an app update. Each submission includes an optional display name you provide; you can omit it if you prefer anonymity.

After a submission is processed, we may mark it as approved in our Firestore records. You may request that your submission be removed by contacting us (see contact section).

5. Data Storage & Retention

Local data (settings, downloaded audio, and the SQLite database) stays on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data. Submitted solfa entries and related metadata are retained in our Firestore database until manually removed or archived by the developer.

6. Security

We use industry-standard transport encryption (HTTPS) for all network activity. Firestore rules restrict who can write or modify submissions, and the app never exposes service credentials. While we follow best practices, no system is 100% immune — please avoid sending sensitive personal information through submission forms.

7. Children

This app is family-friendly and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

8. Third-Party Services

The app uses third-party services for hosting and optional analytics. These services have their own privacy policies and controls. Examples:

9. User Controls & Choices

  • Offline mode: The app works fully offline once audio and DB are downloaded. You control when updates occur.
  • Delete submissions: If you submitted a solfa and want it removed before or after publishing, contact us and we will remove it.
  • Opt out of analytics: If we enable anonymous analytics, you will be given an option to opt out via the app settings.

10. Changes to this Policy

We will update this policy as the app grows. Material changes will be posted here with an updated “Effective Date.” We recommend reviewing this page occasionally.
